CC: ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS CAREER?

I MOVED TO PARIS IN 1984 TO STUDY AT STUDIO BERCOT AND WAS GRADUATED IN 1987. I THEN STARTED TO DESIGN FOR AZZEDINE ALAIA BUT AT THE SAME TIME WAS DESIGNING OTHER COLLECTIONS THAT TURNED TO BE VERY SUCCESSFUL. IN 1989 I BECAME MARTINE SITBON’S ASSISTANT BUT THEN DECIDED TO BE ON MY OWN AND STARTED MY OWN « MAISON DE COUTURE » IN 1991.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN SHOP, 16

WHAT DO YOU CARE THE MOST; THE STYLE OR THE TREND?

THE STYLE OF COURSE, IT’S WAY MORE EXCITING!

CC: HOW DID IT ALL STARTED?

I’VE ALWAYS BEEN PASSIONATE BY CLOTHES. WHEN I WAS A CHILD, I WAS DOING CLOTHES FOR MY DOLLS AND NEVER STOPPED DOING IT. I WAS BORN WITH A PASSION. BEING A DESIGNER WAS SOMETHING THAT I ALWAYS WANTED TO BECOME. I NEVER STOPPED THINKING ABOUT IT AND HAD A DEEP FEELING THAT ONE DAY I WILL BECOME ONE. I STARTED AS A DOLL DESIGNER TO BECOME WHO I AM TODAY.

WHAT ARE THE FABRICS YOU LIKE THE MOST TO WORK WITH?

THE MATERIALS I LIKE THE MOST TO WORK WITH ARE THE KNITTED FABRICS. I LOVE THE IDEA OF STARTING WITH NOTHING AND LITTLE BY LITTLE BUILDING AN ENTIRE PIECE. I LOVE MATERIALS WITH STRUCTURE. IT COULD BE FROM THE KNITTING AND THE WAY IT WAS BUILD, IN THE MATERIAL DENSITY OR JUST BY ITS BODY.

CC: A FASHION DREAM?

I WANT TO KEEP DOING WHAT I DO AND KEEP BUILDING AND RENEW MYSELF ON AND ON AND ON. IT IS A EVOLUTION THAT NEVER ENDS, A WORLD WHERE YOU CAN NEVER STOP GROWING AND LEARNING FROM YOUR OWN EXPERIENCES.
